Brighten Your Smile with Professional Teeth Whitening at Girton Dental Practice

Do you find yourself hiding your smile because your teeth have lost their sparkle? At Girton Dental Practice, we understand how a faded smile can affect your confidence. Fortunately, with our advanced teeth whitening treatments, you can restore your teeth’s natural brilliance and feel proud to show off your smile once again.

What is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to lighten the color of your teeth and remove stains and discoloration. Over time, our teeth can become stained from consuming foods and drinks like tea, coffee, curry, and blackcurrant. While this is a natural process, it can make you feel self-conscious about your appearance.

At Girton Dental Practice, we offer a range of effective whitening options that are safe, gentle on your teeth and gums, and designed to bring back that radiant, white smile. It’s important to note that teeth whitening is effective only on natural, living teeth. Any existing dental work such as crowns or fillings will not change color with whitening treatments. If you have restorations, we can discuss options for achieving a consistent color across all your teeth.

Teeth Whitening at the Girton Dental Practice

Our professional teeth whitening procedure at Girton Dental Practice involves a thorough examination and tailored treatment to ensure the best results:

  1. Initial Consultation: Your journey begins with an assessment to confirm that your teeth and gums are in good health and suitable for whitening.
  2. Custom Whitening Trays: We take precise impressions of your teeth to create custom whitening trays that fit perfectly. These trays ensure that the whitening gel is evenly applied and stays on your teeth.
  3. In-Office Whitening: During your appointment, a protective gel is applied to your gums to shield them from the whitening agent. The whitening gel is then carefully applied to your teeth. The entire in-office procedure usually takes about 1¼ hours, and you’ll notice immediate results. To enhance and maintain the whitening effect, you’ll use the home whitening trays provided by us for a few days following your visit.

Caring for Your Teeth After Whitening

To maximize the longevity of your whitening results and maintain your bright smile, follow these care tips:

  • Immediate Care: In the first 24 hours post-treatment, avoid consuming staining foods and beverages such as tea, coffee, curry, and cola. Stick to clear or white foods and drinks to prevent any potential staining.
  • Ongoing Maintenance: After the initial 24 hours, try to limit your intake of staining foods and drinks. Rinse your mouth with water after consuming such items and use a non-abrasive whitening toothpaste 3 times a day. Daily flossing will also help maintain your bright smile and overall dental health.
  • Rehydration: Understand that you might lose a slight shade of lightness as your teeth rehydrate and a new saliva layer forms over them.
